Welcome to the second episode of Rare Company, a brand new podcast from The Ampersand.
A note on accessibility: If you would like to read a transcript of this episode, please access the web-based version of Substack rather than using the app and click the button just below the title.
Our second guest is the wonderful Rae Chuck, the author of the beautiful Substack newsletter Many Faced God.
Rae speaks multiple languages (a total of six!) making them a polyglot. In this podcast, they share their language learning secrets and what it really means to be “fluent”. We also discuss how Western education is failing us and what we could do differently, sustainable activism, coping with capitalism and hacking the mainframe.
Rae shares their top reading, learning and writing apps (particularly helpful for us neurodiverse folks) and we explore their love for both karaoke and Human Design.
As always, we round off the episode with a Cultural Exchange. Rae shares a song that holds a special place in their heart and I discuss what is currently the best show on Netflix, in my humble opinion.
It was honestly such a privilege to be able to have this chat with Rae. They are one of those truly rare people who I genuinely think I could talk to for hours on end and I do not doubt you will find this conversation as fascinating as I did.
Were you aware that the quick and simple act of clicking the heart button on this post can lead to far more people seeing my work? It’s free to do, takes a split second and means so very much.
&, If you really love this post, or even just The Ampersand as a whole, why not go the extra mile and share it?
As always, thank you for being here.
With love,
xK
